Tipulidae

Home, front door

Saw this little guy when I went out to get the paper this morning. I rarely see one with its wings folded back. I'm usually dealing with them inside as they bash into the walls on Spring evenings.

Clearly I've reached the limits of my current equipment for shooting macros. Time to start a wish list.

Used to see those all the time in NJ.
I think they were part of the Air Force there.

I've always hated these creepy little things but you actually made them somewhat attractive. Nice work... still, if one gets in the house, they will suffer the wrath of the killer tabby cat!
