These were flying free in the Australia exhibit and were quite active.
Used a monopod at 300mm with 1/80 shutter speed..... thank goodness for image stabilization!

Gorgeous shot of the female Star Finch...what a beauty. *a side note, for some strange reason I've found over the years that Finches tend to have the most problem with deformed feet. Not sure why, but they seem to manage okay. I had one, who lived double the normal finch life span, he had severe feet deformaties.
