The bluffer

This little chap was so confident in his wasp disguise he was totally unphased by my hanging around taking photographs. Safe in the knowledge that nobody would want to eat him, he hung around and I got about a dozen good shots of him.

I don't think that this is the best shot of the fly, but it IS my favourite of the set. I like this shot the best, as an image, because I managed to get an angle showing the fly in its wider environment, with the hedge and sky in the background. I also like the diagonal banding of the background matching the banding on the fly's rear end.

I have uploaded some of the other shots to my 'Butterflies and Bugs' gallery:

As always, all comments are welcome and useful, so please let me know your thoughts on the shot. Thanks

Wow, what a fabulous shot. (But it looks like a bee to me, too).

Wonderful shot Graham. So much detail. He fooled me, I thought he was a bee of some sort.
