Ferret family

Hmmm, After yesterdays image failed to grab anybody's attention, I've decided to play the 'cute card' today. Actually the weather in these parts has been miserable today, dull, wet & overcast all day, so this was the best thing I could find to photograph.

This is a family of ferrets, the mother is the larger one underneath, with four kittens (I think that's the right term with ferrets) draped around her. I didn't try to wake her up as she is a bit protective and I need all my fingers to operate the camera.

I find these guys cute, but some people may view them differently :-) Either way, this is my photo for today and comments will be gratefully received as always.

Love these. Had a pair a long time ago, Damnit and Calvin. Both trained to use a litter box and were descented and neutered (we were all much happier after that). Highly recommend them as pets if you get them and train them before you have kids...

ahhhhhh
They look like my ferret Lily.
Yes they make good pets, they do smell if you don't clean up though the litter box.
But they are fragile animals and they are inside pets. Outside only on leash in good weather and for short periods.
Here's our fat boy Jack, he's deaf but we don't think that detracts.http://www.pbase.com/image/25289595

I am not a ferret expert I'm afraid (these aren't mine) so I can't say for certain if they can be trained to use a litter tray. They are very intelligent creatures however and it may well be possible. They do make great pets, you can take them for walks (on a lead) just like a dog and they can be very friendly to their owners. I believe that they aren't generally housepets though, usually being kept in a hutch or run, like a rabbit - they do tend to give off a bit of an odour.

nice pic. I have the same question as Russ had. For the record I just saw your photo from yesterday and I quite like it. If I had seen it yesterday I would have commented for sure. Nice work

I've heard ferrets make good pets, and are highly trainable. Just curious, do they use a litter box like a cat? Nice pic!
