Ruth... I thought I understood... now I know there are still many valuable lessons to learn...and perhaps there really is no true understanding until actual experience. I am always willing to listen and learn, to all who want to speak...

Oh! Craig's comment about David Lynch reminded me of something I had to tell you!
I watched The Elephant Man (1980) film the other day - one of Lynch's. The opening sequences with the 'roaring' elephants, and the slow, thunderous movements, the screaming mother, the banging, the fades/cuts to black, even the crying baby...the whole feel of the scenes reminded me SO much of your documentary. Definitely check it out if you can.

(in fact, forget that...I found it on YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHswu1Ad_wI
I <3 YT! PS. LOVE the cut at 00:54 in this clip ^)

Fantastic film both creatively and in content. Reminds me of both 30's surrealism films of Cocteau, Bunuel, Dali, etc., as well as the short, experimental films of David Lynch. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you continue to explore this artistic venue and keep us updated for viewing. Craig

Kal sees your video as I do -- a cry for help, a private pain, made all the more painful by the addition of sound and movement, which deepen and broaden the message of your haunting imagery. I can't get it out of my mind or my ears. You want us to feel what you feel, see what you see, and hear what you hear, and it is all there, Ruthie. The rest of your message will be intensified by our imaginations and committed to our memories. I know this film must have been very difficult to make for you, but I would guess that it has been, at least in some measure, a therapeutic effort. If you learned anything of value from this experiment, it will be worth your time and your pain. I have always been in awe of your gifts, now even more so. Phil

!Watched it. Being a complete youtube illiterate could not work out how to comment without logging in. One of the most disturbing (and strangely gripping) short documentaries I have seen in a long time. I fealt voyeuristic, like I didn't want to stop watching, but knew I should not be watching this private pain. The silence was unbearable...I am in awe Ruth, you have taken your gift to the moving image. K
