This week’s assignment is composition. Given that I cannot throw a seagull into every shot I do to help create balance (LOL), this is a learning curve for me.
Which one of these two do you like better and why? Thanks for the feedback.

In terms of just generally speaking........this closer crop works for me better than the first....the first is too busy and without any real subject or center of attention, at least with this one....there is a subject, we are drawn to the vase and flowers and color and I find it interesting that the posters of artists are in the background

I really like the first one, the closer crop? The blue and yellow complement each other and draw the viewer in. The second loses the colors and has too much in my viewing eyes. I love the colors. Kathie

For me it's number two. The dramatic colors stand out more against the larger backdrop. But they are both excellent. V

I'm with Di! I like this one better as it focuses more on the flowers instead of all the stuff in the background, yet it has a more artistic feel as well with the closer shot of the pictures on the wall and the two blue screens accentuate the blue in the vase. The lighting on the vase adds more depth and it just feels better to me. So, that is my two cents for what it is worth!

I prefer the first as there is less to distract from the subject matter, imho.

Personally I like the second image. There is so much more to explore.
