Old Friends

Portola Valley, CA

Bev was my hostess last weekend. You may recognize her from our trip to New Zealand and Australia in the Spring of 2005.

Bev and I met at Cornell College in August of 1965. We’ve been good friends ever since.

She introduced me to my first wife; for which I have forgiven her! ;-)

Technically what strikes me about this image is how narrow the DOF is at f/4.0.

This IS a lovely portrait. I am certain you know this but it bears repeating... your DOF is so shallow at f4 because you are at full zoom there. I think you would have gotten a bit more depth if you were at the wide end of your lens. And, I don't think it is just the depth of field that has your good friend looking a bit blurry... I think she might have moved a bit.

Just my 2c worth

Wonderful portrait. That is a surprisingly shallow DOF at f/4

I looked more closely & Courtney actually took the photograph, but I'm sure that your talent (and the fact that you & Bev were the subjects) contributed to the success of the portrait!

Wonderful friendship, wonderful portrait.

I remember her from your trip, too. It's a great portrait, Robin. You really have a good eye & a gift for taking great "people shots". Hope you had a good visit.

Old friends are the best, usually. And, yes I do remember her from your trip to Australia.

Great photo - but how about changing the caption to "Friends Forever"!

Just like that old Simon & Garfunkel song.

What strikes me is the serious look in your eyes. Great capture Robin.
