November 3: Coping with Disaster

Rancho Bernardo, CA

As many of you realize, Pbase was offline for at least 12 hours. It was a shock to me that I couldn’t get online to connect with you all. All I could do was to go out and grab some breakfast to deal with my loss.

I have made much about how trees do not turn here in SoCal. Perhaps I don't see them because I have red/green color blindness! Kathy Rippy had to point out this tree to me which is only 1/4 of block from my home! See below:

Pbase is kinda addictive! I had to check it yesterday every hour to see if their system was already restored! But good, just like you Robin, I had to do something else then, not eating but.. had the time to cleaning the house well hehe! :) YOu have nice meal on your plate.. :o)

At least the lull gave you time to eat something. Nice candid.

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to snap pictures with your mouth full? :-)

I was starting to have panic attacks when I couldn't get on Pbase!! This happens again, and I'm going to need therapy!! ;-) Fun shot! Creative way to deal with the *trauma*!

I actually got some work done today... suppose there's a correlation??

I'm glad I'm not the only one who went through witdrawls when PBase went down!
I checked it almost hourly, I'm glad it was not my system problems. I'll have to post 2 shots tommorow!
Larry Ahern04-Nov-2005 01:45
And I had to work :(
Pepe Zyman04-Nov-2005 01:02
Are you on a ship? :^)

Those are liquidamber tree leaves and they are the ONLY leaves that I have seen change in SoCal as well. Except for the ugly eucalyptus that just turn a yuck brown and just fall off.:-\
virginiacoastline03-Nov-2005 23:53
BTW . .are those the ONLY red leaves in all of SoCal?? You must protect them!! LOL!
virginiacoastline03-Nov-2005 23:52
offline for 12 hours? really? where was I??? I didn't even notice=P
Nice consolation shot, tho, Robin =)
Lee Rudd03-Nov-2005 23:22
well, if the opportunity of a square meal is there!

Robin now here is food for thought, hitting the low and the high of Maslows hierarchy of needs:the need for food and shelter and the need for self actualization.

You don't think the outage was Big Brother's response to yesterday's posting, do you?
Guest 03-Nov-2005 22:23
Lol, nice way to cope with disaster. Now seems to be working normally, but I just posted a photo but only apears in big size not as thumbnail. I going to resubmit to see if everything is ok this time.

LOL Robin...you cope with disaster the same way I do! Looks like a great breakfast, and I know how you love your breakfasts! Shocking to think you spent all these years thinking leaves don't change in California. Well, now we all know they do.
Guest 03-Nov-2005 20:58
There seem to be a large number of SPs with you eating. Lucky man!!!
Al Chesworth03-Nov-2005 20:50
Iv'e warned you about those large breakfasts before.
You'le pop.
Joseph Brennskag03-Nov-2005 20:40
Robin I know just how you feel. But for me coping with one loss causes a gain elsewhere. :-)
scott clarke03-Nov-2005 20:38
Now that is twice this week you have made me hungry!
Guest 03-Nov-2005 20:29
Haha...you sure no how to fill the gap!
Bob Foisel03-Nov-2005 20:22
It got my day off wrong, I drank way to much coffee.
laine8203-Nov-2005 20:16
Those leaves look like my Liquidamber of yesterdays PAD. I believe it's known as Sweet Gum over your way, however I'm doubtful with that bark. Never mind while I'm thinking about your tree I'm not thinking about your food & how I haven't had breakfast yet !! As for pbase, hallelujah it was down during the night here or I may have had a severe case of the shakes by now !!
Zak03-Nov-2005 20:09
you dont know how much you're addicted to pbase until its not there :-o
Rene Hales03-Nov-2005 19:58
Eating! My kind of coping skill. Food is such a comfort. Oops! That's how I get into trouble and have problems fitting into my jeans.--Rene
