The Lenses

Del Mar, CA

Both Herb and Pepe were flexing their big guns to get a shot of a guy talking to a parrot. Since neither of them apparently posted their captured image we have no way of knowing how the Nikon compared to the Canon.

Lacking data one would assume the Canon shot was superior.

But did you get a shot of them chimpinng immediately afterwards?

You are not biased in any way are you.
The only reason we stick with our systems is because any change would be cost prohibitive.
I tkink.

I love Pepe's technique. Can you imagine how wonderful his images would be with a Canon? What I wouldn't give to spend a week out there with you guys. Next year it is going to happen!
Guest 15-Sep-2005 05:50
Go Canon! Go Canon!

What I see here are three ambassadors of PBase.
Two are shown in this wonderful B&W, the third gentleman is taking the shot.
We are all enriched by the way they each share their photographic eye and warm heartfelt comments. Thanks guys for showing us how it is supposed to be done.

@CJ Burianek......... CJ you have an eagle eye. The image is two different ones blended together ... Herb was out of focus in one, and Pepe was out of focus on the other.
Jeffery Stahlman12-Sep-2005 02:32
IS + VR still = monopod. gteat capture of two intrepid photographers. I would love to shoot with with you all someday.

Nice shot
what is with making the Nikon sharper than the Canon HUH???? Really like the detail on the lens there.
Cliff12-Sep-2005 02:09
Oh this is excellent! Wonderful you get together with fellow PaD-sters!
Guest 12-Sep-2005 01:35
Thats a pretty good assumption.

Fantastic shot Robin!! I'd vote Canon, but that unique bicep tripod technique is pretty awesome! Vote for a great black and white candid either way!
Di12-Sep-2005 00:16
The pros at work. Awesome shot! I've got to try the "Pepe tripod".
Yi Feng11-Sep-2005 23:58
Wow! Real professional! Wish I had one of those big ones! Great catch!
Guest 11-Sep-2005 23:32
I bet Pepe's shot came out better...look at how he's using his arm as tripod? Go Nikon go!
Stu11-Sep-2005 23:01
A couple of big lenses there!
Robin Reid11-Sep-2005 22:47
This is from Herb .. I had to re-enter it. Alright here is the bird, I did not post him because he looked a little scruffy after having his beak and claws clipped.

Great shot, Robin.
Wow, I couldn't even lift those cameras. I'd need a trailer for my bicycle just to carry my camera gear around.
Guest 11-Sep-2005 21:00
whoa...those are what i call weapons of mass destruction. :)
Dawn11-Sep-2005 20:52
rofl on the write up, now if they don't post their shots now.. LOL.
shatterbug11-Sep-2005 20:34
Great shot! Herb and Pepe both produce such marvelous images, I don't know which cam to lust after. =D
Robin Reid11-Sep-2005 20:14
LOL Pepe... but no not the guy you cite below.
Pepe Zyman11-Sep-2005 20:11
A guy talking to a parrot?
Do you mean this guy?

wowwwww...great capture once more!!!!
Zak11-Sep-2005 19:16
i'll go for a draw ;-)
Marek Kacprzak11-Sep-2005 19:00
"lacking data" - Pepe wins! gotta try this technique (despite the fact he is wielding a Nikon;)
Guest 11-Sep-2005 18:09
I go both ways....(with regards to Nikon /Canon LOL!)
Chris11-Sep-2005 17:37
I'd have to disagree. You forgot to take into account Pepe's excellent technique. Bicep as tripod trumps the over under clutch anyday ;)
Gayle P. Clement11-Sep-2005 17:36
These are both such incredible photographers. I'd look forward to seeing those photos. Each camera has different strengths and weaknesses. I'm rooting for the Nikon of course!
petesie11-Sep-2005 17:27
I'll root for the Nikon, but I have to bow to you on this one, Robin. You and your Canon did a superb job! Fantastic, fun image.
