Both lenses perform well, Robin. To be honnest, there is a slight, very lttle advantage to the 400. But this needs an expertised eye. All over, both pictures look the same, the 400 has a little better field deepth. Colours and rendering are identic on both lenses.
The real thing would be to compare both at different focusing length and diaphragms.
