Great shot of the Coronado Hotel. I spent some time there with a couple buddies while at Miramar. Used to sit on that back patio drinking gin and tonic while the SEAL guys ran back and forth on the beach yelling and sweating their butts off.

Nice shot from the pool of the Coronado. Not sure this is a monochrome though, but who cares, right? ;-)

Seeing double ~ double spires and double dancers.
Phillip Normanton07-Jan-2010 00:04
Now that mirrored bit bottom left is just too intriguing!!! :)

only black,white and red

A very pleasing symmetric composition...the colouring works well, but I wonder what the roofs would look like just desaturated a little, so they're more in keeping with the B&W of the rest of the image? Just a thought :o)
Stewart Mitchell06-Jan-2010 19:57
Well composed and I like the touch with the figure(s) lower left :)

Interesting, looks sort of surreal, love the sky.
Stephanie06-Jan-2010 10:02
SO pretty of this magnificent structure. I'm trying to decide if I'm looking at a mirrored image of a woman in the door on the left.
Guest 06-Jan-2010 09:28
What a brilliant shot! the lighting and composition are fabulous! Love the 'light' at the door as well!
borisalex06-Jan-2010 07:53

Like it, Robin.....didn' t know you joined the challenge. Standing back from the crowd, huh? Anywho...Love what you did here. The composition is great and the lighting and exposure perfect. Looks like a mirror image on the building on the left with the person there twice. Kinda cool! Good work here!

Very nice take on this landmark, Robin.
Robin Reid05-Jan-2010 23:22
Yes ... a bit of trickery at the lower left door. Good eye!
J. Scott Coile05-Jan-2010 22:38
Superb selective touch. Do I see a little more PS trickery inside that door? Winchester?
Dougie Young05-Jan-2010 22:31

Now you/ve done it Robin. You rekindled an old fire. For the longest time I wanted to go down and shoot the Hotel del Coronado as well as the bridge.
