I started my tour with a trip down the Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm.
This photo was taken aroung 3:30am as the towering mountains showed off a reddish glow in the morning sun.
Turnagain Arm was named by William Bligh (later Commander of the famous HMS Bounty) who served as James Cook's Sailing Master on his 3rd and final voyage abord HMS Resolution, with the aim to discover the Northwest Passage. When they arrived here in 1778 it was discovered that this arm was a dead end rather than being the entrance to the fabled Northwest Passage and so, in frustration, this body of water was given the name "Turn Again".
