Scientific name: Ploceus philippinus (Linnaeus, 1766). This bird is a female or non-breeding male.

Distribution: India, Sri Lanka to southwestern China, parts of southeastern Asia, Sumatra, Java. Habitat: Grassland, cultivated areas, scrub and secondary growths usually near fresh
or brackish water.
