The groundplan is cruciform, for the square temple chamber can be entered from all four sides through projecting porches. Four huge (10m)
standing Buddha images representing Gautama
(facing west), Kakusandha (facing north), Konagamana (facing east) and Kassapa (facing south) are in the centre of the shrine.
Konagamana was the twenty-third Buddha, and the second among the five Buddhas born in the Bhadda Kappa (Aeon).
