Scientific name: Musophaga rossae (Gould, 1851). Also, called Ross's Lourie.

The name "rossae" after Lady Anne Ross (died 1857). Wife of Rear-Admiral Sir James Clark Ross, Arctic and Antarctic explorer. John Gould described this specie based
on a drawing by Lieut. J.R. Stack, and from some feathers shed from wings and tail of a bird kept by Lady Ross at St Helena.

Habitat: central Cameroon east to west Kenya, south to northern Zambia, west to mouth of Congo River. Wide variety of forests from rainforests to riverine
gallery forests in drier areas.

Ross's turacos prefer the canopies of dense trees where they are agile climbers. They often spend the entire day eating, sleeping and preening in the same tree.
This species rarely comes down to the ground. It moves quickly and is very agile high in the rain-forest canopy, running along vines and branches.
