This is a self-portrait of Milton F. Gentsch in the mid-1940s taken with an 8x10 tri-color camera. The black and white prints at the right (reduced) were scanned in 2003 on an Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner. In Photoshop, these were registered and assigned to layers in the CMYK color space. A combination of the three layers were combined to form a pseudo black layer. I had seen a carbro print of this and my rendition doesn't have quite the richness in blues that the carbro has...probably there are other things wrong.
It was a lot of fun seeing the colors appear almost 60 years after the image was taken.
Milton did a fair amount of tri-color carbon and carbro printing in the 1930s and 1940s.
As a mentor, he helped me channel my interests in both photography and electronics--interests that have served me well over the years.
