On hands and knees,the groom must crawl up to and under the bride's wedding gown and using only his teeth( or gums should he have no teeth),he must pull a garter off the brides leg.All the single men then gather and the groom turns away from the men and tosses the garter over his left shoulder.Whoever catches the garter must marry the lady that caught the bride's bouquet.....and that's how we do it in Canada!He gets a nice dowry from the lady's family....sheep and a fruit basket I believe.
