The Medina River hit this area several times in a seven day period. The first time it was flash flooding, then two periods of storm surge causing the river to rise rapidly to higher levels each time.
If you examine this and other photos of the Medina River flooding closely, you will see the the huge trees that were either pull from the ground like weeds or layed flat as if they were merely grass.
