Feb 18 - Red-bellied Woodpecker

Anhinga Trail, Everglades National Park view map

Finally made it down to Anhinga trail, in the Everglades National Park, for the first time this year. Had a very productive morning - apart from the pair of woodpeckers working on this nest there were Anhingas, Bitterns, Catbirds, Doves, Egrets, Fish, Gallinules, Herons, Ibis, Jays... well, you get the general idea.

I received feedback that the brightness of the branch was detracting from this image - I made an alternative at http://www.pbase.com/image/56413716 with a little darker branch.

There were many more shots from today that I liked - a selection are in the PAD alternates gallery at http://www.pbase.com/richardkchapman/pad_alternates
