Built in September, 1949, #2647 was originally F7A #210L. In August, 1970, it became the third F-unit converted to a CF7 in the Santa Fe's Cleburne, Texas, shop. The CF7 program extended the operational lives of the road's many F3A, F7A and F9A locomotives by rebuilding them into road switchers.

Today, #2647 is one of three CF7 locomotives working on the Pioneer Valley Railroad in Massachusetts.
