Judges Comments:
The subject is sharp with a good catchlight in the eye and the non-distracting background allows the viewer to contentrate on the animal. By looking at the dirt around the mouth and nose I gain some insight into the meerkat's behaviour. Burrowing plays a role in this animal's life.
