Bob Cat

Kelowna, British Columbia

I shot this on Saturday. I had an assignment to cover the people doing the Christmas Bird Count and
one of the birders mentioned the highlight of his day was discovering a bobcat in a tree. He told
me roughly where it was and so I decided to go look for it too and low and behold, it was still
there. The tree was a big old willow located in a riparian are of a local watercourse, completely
surrounded by urban development.

not a domestic cat shot eh kind of surprise it was still there.. In B&W you made the textures come well together.

Excellent shot. It must be an unusual place to find one of these!

Fantastic image and find, Fred! A very difficult critter to photograph.

His coat blends well with his surroundings, he looks content with his camouflage fur coat.
Nice job getting the eye contact with this big beastie cat!

In the picture, you might think this is just a large house cat. Unfortunately, I have nothing in the image to offer a sense of scale. All I can say is this is no house cat. I would guess it would be as big as a medium sized dog like a spaniel, about 30-40 pounds (13-18 kg).
