Just playing with my new macro lens (BTW this is a crop from about 60% of the frame).
I think this is a Palmetto bug - a type of wild "cockroach" we have here in the south. They can be HUGE -- back in college we called them "Mouches" -- 1/2 mouse, 1/2 cockroach :-)
Wish I had a better subject to play with, but all of the other critters in my yard seem to have already packed it up for the season.
