Saved

Thousand Oaks, CA

Every centimeter on this horribly abused bearded dragon is
nothing but skin & bone; for one who loves rep's, this was
very disturbing to come across! He had no heat source, no
water & the only food I saw in his tank was f*cking POPCORN!

So I did what I had to do, and stole him; right in front of
a group of peeps & ya know what? Not a single one of them
noticed the pathetic lil' critter I was holding with my hand
upon my shoulder.

Not sure he will make it thru, so we have tentatively named
him/her "Saved". He is so weak he can't support himself, &
his jaw is so soft, he can't eat. It makes me angry & ill!

I have fed him 6 of the soft square bites made for beardies,
squishing them between my fingers to make them soft & then
opening his mouth as I gently put the bites in. I attempted
to give him 2 more bites earlier today, but I ended up taking
them out, as he did not seem to have eaten the bites I had
already given him. (I discovered this to my horror as I could
see down his throat as I opened his soft jaw!)

Sooo, I dunno if popcorn has become impacted & he cannot eat,
or if he's just so far emaciated that there is nothing I can
do for him at this point, but try to make him comfortable..

Ugh! HELP! I'm open to any suggestions!!
Thanx & please say a prayer for Saved!!

Felix, No, the poor animal did not survive; Preacher made me give it to him & said he would take it to the vet the following day... however, he did not take it until the following day; by then, pooor Saved was dead.
It caused such a rift between my preacher & I that I have not been back to church since :-(
Anytime a preacher chooses to be PC over following the Bible, he is not the preacher for me!
Very sad indeed. And just FYI, I turned in the entire Christian School Board & my preacher, to the ASPCA...

Hi Colleen (sp?) it's Ilene. We met at Rick's Japanese the other day when I had my beardie on my shoulder. I am apalled, to say the least. I would have done the same thing (stealing him and trying to nurse him). I hope that the person/people responsible for this are brought to justice, although we know that probably won't happen. I just don't understand how people can see bones poking out and think that an animal is just fine.

Most kind of you; thank you very much for any info or suggestions you might have on nursing Saved back to health again!

Good for you! This poor animal.... I'd have done the same. I'll see if I can find out info for you.
