Angel Glacier

Angel Glacier figured prominently in our views all along the loop. Although it looks like an angel with wings, the glacier didn't get its name on account of this resemblance.

Edith Cavell was a British nurse who served in Belgium during WWI and helped over 200 Allied soldiers escape. The Germans arrested her for espionage and executed her by firing squad. Due to her courage and bravery, Canada named a prominent mountain in Athabasca Valley after her. She also came to be known as the "angel of mercy" and Angel Glacier was named in her honor as well.
