It's melting! Finally! The ice that has formed in bays and other spots with lower current is finally melting, and breaking off in large pieces. Although there is no wind, so the water is glassy smooth, the pieces are moving at about the pace of a walk, so there is lots of current. Downstream, if the pieces get caught in a restriction, they can jam up and cause flooding.
