Sappho Longwing

Scientific name: Heliconius sapho

This is another butterfly that I have rarely seen with its wings open. I really needed a stepladder for this shot since it had landed on a high
leaf and I think was deliberately taunting me. To get everything in focus, the lens should be parallel to the wings. Instead I was
forced to shoot from behind. Luckily, it appears to me that most of the butterfly is in focus. The photo below was posted on
November 28 and shows Sappho Longwing with its wings closed.

What a fabulous shot! I like the open winged shot there's so much detail there. The feeler looks like a needle and even seems to have an eye. If I ever have to substitute a feeler I know exactly what I'll use. LOL Both great captures!! \/
