My New Blind For Photographing Birds On Our Feeders

This is my new Ameristep Outhouse Blind for photographing birds on our feeders. My wife thinks I'm totally crazy, but the blind enables
me to shoot very close to the birds. I can only imagine what the neighbors think too! The blind fits one photographer, a tripod, a case
for equipment, and a chair. I'm too tall to shoot out the front window of the blind, so I sat on the chair yesterday and shot from a
tripod. There is enough window opening to see if birds are landing on the feeders and start shooting. Amazingly, the birds
didn't seem to be aware of me at all.

Blinds are highly recommended by John Shaw in his great book, Nature Photography Field Guide. Bill Bates of Pbase has a blind that fits
two people. See http://www.pbase.com/image/52118025 . Another advantage is that when the phone rings, my wife just says, "He
can't talk right now. He's in his blind." :)

Unfortunately, I have so far been unable to figure out how to fold the thing back up. No jokes please, but I'm sure they will come.

Nice shot Jay. There is nothing more fun then sitting in a blind on a wetland.
The opportunity's are endless. I have a Rod Planck pocket blind that tucks into a pocket on my folding stool. It's easy to carry and fast to setup. VOTE

Looks interesting. You have the right idea. Let me know what the birds think of it.

Interesting contraption. You'll have to try it in the field after you test drive it on your deck. How long do you stay in there? I have trouble photographing birds in my yard. My one border collie thinks his mission is to clear the yard of all birds.

Yup, if I were a bird...that...would fool me!!!LOL
Good for you, Jay...I have a couple of online friends who travel with them
as well and camp outside for the day and get the most incredible wildlife shots.
...err, you're sure there's not room in there for Carol??? =:o)

this is the mother of all contraptions... more complicated to figure out than the EURO, eh??:)
