This might be a puffin couple, although there was no way to tell. The male and female are about the same size with the male
slightly larger. Chicks remained in their burrows in early July and did not fledge until later in the season.
So we never saw them. In fact, they emerge from the nest only once on a nighttime
flight to the ocean to avoid predators.
