At the west end of Lower Slaughter there is an old water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power.
(A vertically-mounted water wheel that is rotated by water striking paddles or blades at the bottom of the wheel is said to be
undershot.) The mill was built in the nineteenth century and last used commercially in 1958.
