18-JUL-2008 Purple Pineapple Lily

Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy'

It's hard not to stop and take a closer look at a pineapple lily. This plant
produces strap-like foliage of dark burgundy forming a rosette to 24" wide. In
late summer, the clump produces a 20" tall bloom stalk resembling a miniature
purple pineapple...very cool! E. 'Sparkling Burgundy' is very easy to grow and
tolerates a wide range of garden soils. Hardy to zone 6b.

KT, your photos are beautiful. My favorite of this batch is the pineapple lily here!
I've never seen one this shade before. It is special! They certainly do resemble pineapples!
