The Bridge

Several folks were interested in seeing more detail of the old Hojack Line Swing bridge that sits at the mouth of the Genesee River. Today was a nice but chilly day to get another image of it.

A fine shot of this epic structure, Patti. (V)
It must have certainly took some building!

There use to be one of these that looked very similar on the way to the Oregon Coast from Eugene. When I first saw your photo, I thought thats what it was. Nice shot here, slipping into fall, my favorite time of year. Cheers,Ron

You say old bridge, guess it's not in operation anymore. We have one down by Dubuque and it stays open to river traffic as the RR line isn't used much, maybe a train a day. In the Winter it is left for the RR till Spring when the Mississippi opens.

Very nice work on this one. Guess it is a revolving bridge? Didn't you say that they don't use it anymore? Enjoy your chilly weather....beats the heck out of 90+ degree weather, I'm sure!

I have never seen one of these before. It looks like it is a bridge to nowhere!!

Nice details of this old engineering marvel - but what's your definition of 'chilly'?
