This photo shows their walking sticks which they bought in the early '80s from Turkana tribesmen.
The one Mom uses is the standard stick which you rarely see a grown Turkana man without.
The one Dad uses is a "shooting stick" -- a man could rest the barrel of a rifle on any one of the
short branches that project from it at various levels. Dad finds it useful for hiking, and
also occasionally for stabilizing his camera.
