20090127 - Empty

For the Flash Us and Minimalism challenges for January.

Couldn't decide on clean or dirty glass, went for dirty in the end, but cleaned the bottle up a bit...
Made a tinfoil snoot type thingy to make a spotlight effect. Shame the light's a bit hard on the bottle and glass. And the table's not straight. Ah well - it was pitch-black in there :-)

A couple of glasses,I find,can often bring on a tilt. Excellent. V

This is a minimum that someone need to relax. Add some music and I'm good ..... :-)

It wouldn't be a 'real' Normanton if either the glass or bottle were full though, would it? A well-presented and executed shot, Phil. I agree with the other comments, I think you're being too self-critical, the set-up is just fine and dandy.

Cleverly done

Lovely shadow play. Well done
Stewart Mitchell28-Jan-2009 07:24
Well, it was half-full once!! Great, rich, red wine mood Phillip, the harshness of the label lifts the image and gives it a bit of pop ;-)!!

very moody!

The glass might be empty, but the image is full. Bravo, good light.

Cracking shot. I would love to see the set up with the tinfoil snoot type thingy. Sounds like the sort of Heath robinson afair I would knock up.:-0
Faye White27-Jan-2009 21:36
it all works great!
Nancy Good27-Jan-2009 21:28
Well thought out and executed! I love the tilt, I love the color, I love the sharpness of the light on the props compared to the softness against the red. Done good!
Walter Otto Koenig27-Jan-2009 21:14
Nice result with the tinfoil snoot type thingy. I think you're being hard on yourself. This looks really nice and it wouldn't look right without the tilt. The reds are just great in this.

I love the shadows and the light on the bottle is perfect. You're getting good at this lighting lark!! :)

Great control of the light. Well set still with super shadow play.
