Perfect choice of dark background and excellent DOF for this; do you shoot mostly manual, or go with the auto settings? I know exactly the sheen this must have; I have tried to capture it with my new grapevine shoots many-a-time without being satified, but I know that you've got it here. I'll keep trying. Amen to Pasteur, yes. And photography is a blessed window on it.
