The Inner Harbor grew from a fisherman’s port to the city’s economic center. Its decline began in the 1970’s with the relocation of the Hong Kong - Macau Ferry Terminal to the east coast.

Across the river in the background is the prefecture-level city of Zhuhai (珠海) in China.
