Tegetthof Denkmal

Vienna, Austria view map

This memorial at the intersection of Praterstraße & Praterstern was designed by Karl von Hasenauer and Carl Kundmann.
It commemorated the 1866 Austrian victory over the Italians in the Battle of Lissa, which has absolutely no historical significance.
Since 1918, Austria had no navy. I always wonder what the job responsibility of Captain Von Trapp (from the movie The Sound of Music) was as an officer of the Austrian navy in 1938.

With 3 ships on a column, this memorial has the same design as the Columbus Monument in New York City.
But I could not find any connection.
