During the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak of 2003, Dr. Tse volunteered to serve in the quarantined ward, with the full knowledge of the risk. She contracted the fatal infection and died on May 2003 at the age of 35.
Of the seven medical workers honored here in the Tai-Chi Garden, Dr. Tse received the highest award of Medal for Bravery (Gold) posthumously for exemplary bravery, selfless commitment, and professional dedication.
