Located at the center of Athens, the construction of this temple dedicated to the king of Olympian gods started back in the 6th century BC. It would have been the largest temple of the ancient world. But it was not completed until the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. 16 of the original 104 columns survived to the 19th century, but one of them collapsed in 1852.
