Monastery of Saint John the Theologian (Agios Ioannis Theologos) was founded here in 1088 by Ossios Christodoulos with authorization from Emperor Alexios I Komnenos.
John wrote the Revelation, the last book of the New Testament while in exile here on Patmos Island.
It is an UNESCO World Heritage site.
