19th century composer Bedřich Smetana is remembered as the father of Czech nationalistic music with his most famous work “Má vlast” (My Homeland).
Since 1936, the museum has been housed in a neo-renaissance building here on the Vltava River waterfront formerly owned by the Prague Water Company. Behind his statue is the Old Town Water Tower.
