The top of the Gothic style Porta della Carta, main gate to Doge's Palace.
It is on the west side of the palace, next to St. Mark's Basilica, facing the Piazzetta
At the bottom is a statue of Francesco Foscari, the ruling Doge of 1438 kneeling before the Winged Lion of St. Mark.
The original statue was destroyed on order by Napoleon. This is a later reconstruction.
