Shrine to the Longevity Jizo Bosatsu 延命地蔵尊, the god of the underworld
Second to Inari Shrines, Jizo is the most common type of shrines in Japan.
Traditionally, Japanese parents that lost children made offering to it in the form of red bibs and hats. It is supposed to ease the little ones' transition into after life. With modern medicine comes low child mortality rate, parents are now encouraged to make similar offerings after their children recover from serious illnesses.
