The Sanjusangen-do houses 1000 statues of the Thousand Armed Kannon 千手観音 that date back to the 12th and 13th centuries.
Sanjusangen means thirty-three sections. The wooden building is a long hall divided by pillars into 33 sections. This is the view from one end towards the middle section.
No photography of the national treasures inside are allowed.
