Waiting

Picacho Peak, Pinal County, Arizona

A nice winter storm promised some dramatic light as I was headed up to Eloy to have lunch with
fellow PBasers and Marcia Rules and David Ingram. Having shot with Marcia I have observed how she
patiently waits for the light to paint a scene. Rather than just driving and passing up an opportunity,
I pulled off at the Red Rock exit and waited to see if there was going to be any dappled light on
Picacho Peak. It took about 15 minutes and never really popped like an area out of frame on the
right, but I was happy to have some light grace this volcanic plug.

So dramatic as a monochromatic capture. The light catching the peak with the foreboding clouds is very powerful. VVV

This is magnificent, Sam. Many years ago I hiked up this peak and it was a tough hike. Seeing it like this from a distance means a lot. Well worth the wait for this shot. Big Vote
