Beerenberg from 35,000 feet

Jan Mayen, Norway view map

The most northerly object I have photographed to date. I was hoping this was going to be Iceland, but we flew
well north of that island on my way back to San Francisco after a business trip to Frankfurt.

Beerenberg is a 2,277 m stratovolcano which forms the northeastern end of the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen.
It is the world's northernmost subaerial active volcano. --Wikipedia

for an active volcano it looks sedate enough peeking up between the clouds...fine image Sam..
