Death Valley National Park view map

I took a 5 inch (130mm) quartz orb with me on this trip to try to get
some creative captures. Here's my first attempt at using this crystal
ball. Walter Koenig posted a shot a while back that got me interested
in using a crystal ball, so I have no claim to originality.

This is an exceptional result. The things that work for me: (a) The simplicity of the colours; just brown and blue. Any more than that would be a distraction, perhaps; (b) the contrast between the roughness of the rock that the orb is sitting on and the smoothness of the orb itself; and (c) The way the rock in the foreground is echoed by the rock formation in the background, and yet the image in the orb inverts it.
It's a great study in contrasts on many levels.
