An Organ Pipe cactus blooming in our front yard. Organ pipe
cacti are native to the Sonoran Desert from the southern part
of AZ into northern Mexico. So here it is during the hottest
part of the year and these things are in full bloom. Well,
full bloom means usually only a flower or two at a time, with
each one opening in the evening and lasting only until the early
morning. They do produce a wonderful cactus fruit which is prized
by the wildlife, almost as much as us pesky humans.
