Siem Reap, Cambodia

He was minding the shop while the rest of the team was on a break, I guess. He would set up the stall in front of each restaurant and wait (there was no business at this time), then after a while move on to the next restaurant. His spot would later be taken by another bookseller.

a perfect portrayal of the hardships in one´s life,the peaceful sleeping girl in contrast to the man in thoughts and burdened by his worries is really a sad scene,i wish him and the child a better future.

I do completely agree that this is more powerful than the other (which is why, as expected, this one has comments and the other one doesn't!). But the reason I posted the other one is partly because I think this one on its own gives an unbalanced impression. Actually he may have something to worry about - I don't know - but I don't feel very good about the idea of presenting a single shot taken at the only moment when he looked really down. It would seem unfair, somehow, and likely to produce pity which seems to me to be disrespectful. This shot shows one moment of his day. The other picture shows another momet. Both are real, even though one produces a response and the other one doesn't.

For some reason I felt more strongly about this matter in this case than I usually do. I don't want to just show that "down" moment; generally people have some happiness in their lives regardless of their situation, and I'd rather pay attention to that. But at the same time, I did want to post this shot!

This one is definitely much stronger than the other one, in both expression and emotion.

This is absolutely great find. The girls relaxed pose and face while she is sleeping and mans very concerned and depressed look. Vote.
