On the last morning we made a special trip back this spot to get a photo or two.
I was waiting for some minutes for something interesting for the foreground of the shot with
the police sign, and I couldn't believe my luck when the motorbike appeared. And as soon as I
had taken this one I knew I had got the shot I wanted, so I packed up the camera and we left.

These signs might be effective at night, when the flashing lights are indistinguishable
from the real thing. But the element of surprise is short-lived, and anyway I didn't
see the signs making any arrests.
The speed limit on the open road in Hokkaido seemed to be 50km/h in most places. Where
I come from it would be hard to imagine those roads having a speed limit of less than
80km/h, and more likely 100km/h. Hypothetically speaking, one might consider driving
at 30km/h over the limit like quite a lot of other drivers, and arriving at one's
destination rather earlier than would be possible for a fully law-abiding citizen.
